Foundation's 2014 Focus: Building the
BJCF Restricted Endowment Fund
During 2014 the Foundation Board will focus upon building the BJCF Restricted Endowment Fund. The Board has set a goal to raise a minimum of $50,000 for the Endowment this year. More than $44,000 was added to the Fund during 2013, increasing its total assets from $19,908 as of December 31, 2012 to over $71,000 today.
The Foundation intends to grow the long term endowment fund so that its earnings can be used to award grants to local organizations for projects and programs in the community. To this end, the Foundation is also planning to work with community organizations to understand and define what community needs exist that would fall within the mission of the Foundation. Stay tuned for more news as the work progresses!
Every gift to this fund demonstrates your conviction that together we can truly influence the future of our community.
2014 Rummage Sale a Big Success!
The BJCF would like to thank all of the donors of treasures and energetic volunteers whose generosity of items and time helped the Foundation raise approximately $6,700 around the Memorial Day weekend Town Wide Garage Sale. The Foundation would also like to thank our hosts, Craig, Jane, and Olivia of Peeplelures, and all the treasure hunters who supported the fundraiser.
The Foundation is already accepting new and gently-used merchandise and clothing in anticipation of next season’s Town Wide Garage Sale. We are ready, willing and able to visit your home or business to remove your donated items and place them in storage. Please see Craig Mason at Peeplelures in town to arrange for pick-up or call Craig at 715-385-0100. Thank you for your continued support of this fundraising event!
The Boulder Junction Community Foundation (BJCF) has announced the start of their 2014 Raffle sale which will culminate in the awarding of the grand prize on Saturday, September 20, 2014, at the Colorama Dinner in historic Nash Lodge at Camp Manito-wish.
The grand prize is a professionally restored, 1947 Old Town Canoe, a 16 foot ORCA model, by Dave Osborn of Little Lakes Canoe Restoration and Guide Service in Boulder Junction. The first prize is a hand-carved pileated woodpecker by Boulder Junction artist, Wiley Miller. The carving is mounted on a rustic piece of driftwood and can be viewed each week Tuesday at the BJCF's stand at the Lions' Flea Market. The second prize is an always popular $500 gift certificate to Peeplelures.
Raffle tickets will be available at some Boulder Junction businesses whenever the canoe is present as well as at the BJCF stand at the weekly Lions Flea Market during the summer and Music on Main Street during the month of July. Raffle winners do not have to be present at the September Colorama Dinner to win.
All funds raised through the 2014 Raffle sales will benefit the Endowment Fund of the BJCF. . It is the goal of the Foundation to raise $50,000 in 2014 through the Raffle and other donations to the fund. Additional information for potential donors is available on this website. As Dave Osborn so aptly stated it, “It is my hope that the canoe attracts a lot of attention, sparks interest in the BJCF, sells a lot of raffle tickets, gives an identity of sorts to the Boulder Junction Community Foundation and becomes an inspiration for others to give back to Boulder Junction in their own way.”
